Greenwich boasts one of the great suburban downtowns in America, which should not be surprising given the age, size, and affluence of the town. This walk focuses on Greenwich Avenue and its tributary streets. View the facades of significant commercial buildings, institutions, churches, and houses, as well as works of public art. Appreciate notable American architects Mowbray & Uffinger, Loring & Phipps, Guilbert & Betelle, Marshall & Henry Emery, and Alfred Charles Bossom, who designed some of the structures on our journey. We will consider the changing nature of suburban downtowns and of the American Main Street.
