According to the Harvard Health Blog, “The more people cook at home, the healthier their diet, the fewer calories they consume, and the less likely they are to be obese or develop type 2 diabetes.” When you cook at home, you control the ingredients and avoid consuming cheap fillers, flavor enhancers, and added salt or butter that end up in much restaurant food.
This demonstration class will feature simple, go-to recipes for sauces, dressings, and dips using healthful ingredients from a well-stocked pantry that will transform your home cooking. Learn how to use these foundation recipes to make daily meals nutritious and delicious. Recipes will include basic vinaigrette, carrot-ginger dressing, lemon tahini sauce, and green herb salsa. Pair as a marinade on a protein or dress a salad and you’ve got a meal! Students will sample several dishes and discuss the different ways to put together a balanced meal.
