« back to classes page
Advances in science and technology create new ethical dilemmas.  These lectures will present a systematic, rational way to analyze and determine the best course of action in the face of conflicting choices.  In examining bioethical principles, the class will explore recent cases (e.g., genealogy and crime solving, CRISPR and designer babies), investigate the ethical dilemma involved in the use of the thalidomide drug, analyze euthanasia and the right to die, and consider what limits should be placed on the permissible use of performance enhancing drugs.
