This course explores the complicated matter of religion in China. The first two sessions will examine the traditional religions of China: Village Religion, Confucianism, Daoism, and Buddhism. The third session will focus on the history of Islam, Christianity, and Judaism in China. The final session will look at the way the People’s Republic of China under Communist Party leader Xi Jinping deals with religion today.
