Mark Rothko Retrospective

Inspired by the major Mark Rothko retrospective at the Foundation Louis Vuitton in Paris (October 18, 2023 through April 2, 2024) as well as Mark Rothko: Paintings on Paper, a smaller show running November 19, 2023 through March 31, 2024 at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC, this course focuses on the life and work of the artist through a chronological approach. Trace Rothko’s entire career, from his earliest figurative and surrealist paintings to the abstract works for which he is most known, as well as his darker late work such as the Rothko Chapel.
