Derived from the French verb “coller,” meaning “to glue” or “to stick,” collage is an assemblage of assorted materials such as photographs, drawings, newspaper, wrapping paper, or wallpaper glued together on paper, board, or canvas to create a new piece of art.  Masters such as Henri Matisse, Georges Braque, Pablo Picasso, and Robert Rauschenberg all used collage in different ways. Students in this class will learn about composition, balance, cut-outs, color, flat objects, different glues, and types of paper. This class is suitable for beginning and intermediate artists.
