This illustrated course travels throughout Scotland, from the Highlands to the Lowlands, as we explore noble houses and residential castles that are unique to Scotland’s history and heritage.  Discover spectacular facades, some five centuries old, and then step inside to admire rare furnishings, paintings, and family treasures in homes such as the spectacular sixteenth century Crathes Castle with its turrets, towers and decorated rooms that overlook original gardens; Glamis Castle, once the home of the late Queen Mother; Haddo House that reveals a classical Georgian ambiance; Hopetoun House near Edinburgh, that offers impressive scenic views, and Abbotsford, the home of Sir Walter Scott who so impressed Queen Victoria on her visit there.
