ClassGraphic Far sooner than most of us think, the genetics revolution will transform the world within and around us. But while conversations about genetic technologies occur primarily in the context of healthcare, the tools we are developing will soon change the way we make babies, the nature of the babies we make, and ultimately our evolutionary trajectory as a species. The genetics revolution will be the greatest opportunity, and also the greatest challenge, of our era but we are not remotely ready for what is fast heading our way. Leading technology futurist and geopolitical expert Jamie Metzl explores what the genetics revolution means for you, your family, your community, and the world — and what we all must urgently do now to prepare.

JAMIE METZL is a leading technology futurist and geopolitical expert.  A member of the World Health Organization international advisory committee on human genome editing and Senior Fellow of the Atlantic Council, he has served in the U.S. National Security Council, State Department, Senate Foreign Relations Committee, as Executive Vice President of the Asia Society and with the United Nations in Cambodia.  Metzl appears regularly on national and international media discussing global issues and his syndicated columns and other writing on genetics, Asian affairs, virtual reality, and other topics are featured regularly in publications around the world. In addition to Hacking Darwin, he is the author of a history of the Cambodian genocide, the historical novel The Depths of the Sea, the genetics sci-fi thrillers Genesis Code and Eternal Sonata.  A former White House Fellow, Aspen Institute Crown Fellow, and an avid ironman triathlete and ultramarathoner, Metzl holds a PhD in Asian history from Oxford, a JD from Harvard Law School, and graduated Phi Beta Kappa, magna cum laude from Brown University.
