Follow historic paths through Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, and Stirling to uncover a unique Scottish heritage of art, customs, castles, and royalty.  Class will study each city’s history from the middle ages to the present, covering Edinburgh’s connection to Mary Queen of Scots, its Holyrood Palace, and the elegant squares of Georgian New Town; Glasgow’s ancient cathedral, the Willow Tea Rooms, and the spectacular Victorian Town Hall that expressed the city’s commercial  prowess; Aberdeen’s impressive sixteenth century town house; and Stirling’s rare seventeenth century decorations adorning a nobleman’s town mansion, and Stirling Castle’s spectacular royal gilded dining hall overlooking the battlements.
