Whether you are a writer, an illustrator, or want to do both, you will enjoy and benefit from this unique course. The instructors, an editor and an author-illustrator, know first-hand the challenges of tightening texts and the role visuals play in telling the story. Learn how to make a dummy — essential for writers and illustrators. Exercises, discussion, and lively visuals show the importance of rhythm in language, plotting and layout. Supportive workshopping is part of each session. The course goal is to develop a dummy that uses the picture book format to tell your story. “What Make a Picture Book Tick?” is recommended but not required.
