How did children’s books become such a vital part of the publishing scene?  With a focus on picture books, this visual history covers the ten decades, beginning in 1919, when major developments set the stage for today’s thriving field.  Lecture will provide insight into the continuity of this vibrant, ever-changing field while discussing legendary personalities such as Margaret Wise Brown and books with outsized impact such as Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus and I Want My Hat Back.
