« back to classes page

The Guggenheim Museum with its Frank Lloyd Wright designed spiral building is the perfect setting for Hilma af Klint’s spiritual paintings which were meant to be mounted in a similarly shaped spiritual temple.  Her abstract works of the early 1900s predate those of the celebrated masters like Kandinsky, but they share many of their spiritual and philosophical concerns. Although her work was hardly ever shown during her lifetime, it has become the inspiration to contemporary artists.  One such artist, R.H.Quaytman, is on view on the top ramp of the museum.
