ID : 7168
« back to classes page
The members of the Progressive Artist Group were a group of young, idealistic men who came together in the same year as the emergence of India as an independent nation. The members themselves came from vastly varied religious and social backgrounds but gave visual form to the idea of India as secular, heterogeneous, international and united. This class will give an introduction to the ideas and works of this diverse group of artists and will be followed by a tour of the exhibition The Progressive Revolution: Modern Art for a New India at the Asia Society Museum in New York City.
