Coping with a personal struggle or grieving a loss is difficult and painful. However, expressing those sentiments in writing can be therapeutic. Some studies have shown that writing about emotional events such as a death can confer positive health benefits such as stress reduction and improvements in both mental outlook and physical health. Writing about a departed loved one is one way to maintain the bond with that individual and help make sense of the loss. In this workshop, students will be guided with writing prompts to explore feelings of grief and loss, to capture them in words, and to share them.
