This session focuses on Florence and the emergence of Italian humanism and humanist art.  Class will cover the rise of the Medici family and the reasons that Florence became the hub of the Renaissance.  Artists to be examined include Masaccio, Fra Angelico, Donatello, Brunelleschi, Lorenzo Ghiberti, Alberti, Verrocchio, Botticelli, Piero della Francesca, Perugino, Leonardo da Vinci, and others.
