This seminar examines the rich customs and traditions of selected sub-ethnic groups or tribes from different sub regions and actions being taken by African governments, despite opposition to preserve the rich cultural heritages.  The course will also explore the effects of religion, modernization and the onset of epidemics like HIV/AIDS on these archaic but deeply rooted traditions and cultures.
