Enjoy the opportunity to learn about watercolor while appreciating the beautiful surroundings of Rockefeller State Park Preserve. This class will guide your observation of the landscapes and the process of capturing that impression with watercolor. Artists of all levels will work on simplifying the scene into shapes, forms and color. The trees, leaves, rocks and water will be studied and demonstrations will provide suggestions for techniques to try. Your personal interpretation will be encouraged as we walk the property and select compositions to sketch. The class will conclude with a shared critique of the work. We will meet at Rockefeller’s Main Entrance gallery. Please note: students should bring their own watercolors, paper taped to a board, brushes, water, cup and a stool or mat for sitting. On inclement weather days, we will work inside of the gallery.
