Back by popular demand we will take another look at music and dance. The use of popular songs as background to popular dance has a rich history going back to the nineteenth century. We will explore music and dance from popular twentieth century venues like music halls, street performances, and later vaudeville, radio, jazz, tap dance and Broadway. This course includes structured lectures and video to learn about contemporary performers and use of popular music by choreographers and dancers such as the Nicholas Brothers, Fred Astaire, Jerome Robbins, Twyla Tharp, and Paul Taylor.
