Warfare in the Modern Era

The influence of warfare is arguably one of the least understood aspects of human history.  After a brief survey of the historical antecedents, we will examine how and why warfare continues to affect the militarization of American society, from the American Revolution to modern terrorism.  We will screen several documentaries about warfare and discuss the cultural consequences of our wars.
