Modern Women Artists In The MoMA Collection

MoMA has just issued a book entitled Modern Women: Women Artists at the Museum of Modern Art which is described as "a groundbreaking examination of the Museum's collection, looking at work over the course of history, by the modern and contemporary women artists whose diversity of practices and contributions to the avant-garde movements of the twentieth century have been enormous, if often under recognized."

This two-part series will introduce the artists in the collection, including Georgia O’Keeffe, Louise Bourgerois, Elizabeth Murray, Louise Nevelson, Lee Krasner, Joan Mitchell and Eva Hesse. Group discussion about these extraordinary women will be encouraged. A second MoMA exhibit entitled Pictures by Women: A History of Modern Photography includes work by Diane Arbus, Nan Goldin, Imogen Cunnigham, Cindy Sherman and Carrie Mae Weems, among others will be discussed.
