Movie Matinees: Simply
Super, But Sometimes Overlooked |
Movies capture critics’ acclaim for
various reasons. We’ll take a serious look at films that were not
widely seen but were praised for at least one element: director’s
concept and execution, screenplay, acting, cinematography, and a
host of production decisions.
Films being considered are Thief
(James Caan), All about My Mother (dir. Almadovar), Tom
Horn (Steve McQueen), Edward Scissorhands (Johnny Depp),
Behind The Sun (Salles, dir. of Central Station), The
American Friend (Dennis Hopper), Sirens (Sam Neill),
Sexy Beast (Ben Kingsley), Days Of Heaven (Richard Gere). |
