Art In Motion: A Walking Tour Of The Donald M.
Kendall Sculpture Gardens |
Conceived by the former chairman of the
board and chief executive officer of PepsiCo, Inc, the gardens which
bear his name were imagined as an atmosphere of stability,
creativity, and experimentation.
The
gardens feature 45 sculptures by some of the best-known artists of
the twentieth century. Artists include
Alexander Calder, Alberto Giacometti, Auguste Rodin, Henry Moore,
Jean Debuffet, George Segal and
Louise Nevelson. The sculpture and gardens exist in harmony on
approximately 168 acres of carefully tended landscape. The gardens
are an art form in their own right, where placement and texture are
carefully planned, using the living and ever-changing materials of
trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants with their different colors,
shapes and scents. The outing will provide a guided tour of this
masterpiece of art and nature. |
